Frozen In....

The past two days in San Antonio we have all been homebound!

We had ice, freezing rain, more ice.  Almost snow...but not quite by my born and raised in Michigan standards.  All the schools have been closed and even Blake's work has been closed for the past two days.  Looks like things will be back to normal tomorrow.  I finally got out this afternoon and went to the gym....I was feeling way too cooped up.

Mostly, I am really glad we didn't lose power.  Everything has at least an inch of ice on it, so I was hoping those power lines didn't SNAP.  It is all very exciting by San Antonio standards.  And I have to laugh at the newscasters.  They are on all morning...so no Regis and Kelly for me.  But it is the biggest deal ever when half of the highways in town are shut down.  Come on, it is just a little ice!

Tagged ??

Ok....so I have been tagged by my friend Sarah.  Kind of reminiscent of one of those emails where you answer questions and send it back the person that sent it to you and keep it going.  So here it is...

The Rules:  Each player of this game starts with blogging about six weird things about him or herself.  People who get tagged need to write a blog post of their own six weird things as well as restate these rules.  So here it is...

1.  I got run over by a speedboat the summer before 8th grade.  Weird?  Yes, I think so.  We were up in Hale, Michigan water skiing and the boat came back around and got me. I didn't feel it, just saw all the blood and screamed bloody murder.  I think the whole lake heard me.  Still have a lovely scar across my leg.

2.  I don't drink milk or eat cheese and have successfully convinced everyone I am lactose intolerant. No one will ever know though because I can't stand the taste and refuse to try again.  Slightly stubborn.

3.  That  leads to number three, I peel the cheese off pizza to eat it.   But I love Cheeze Its and Doritos.  And the mac & cheese fake cheese over popcorn.

4.  I have more than 50 black shirts.  Ha ha, too old to be goth or emo....just can't stop buying them.  Possible addiction...maybe that should be another post?

5.  I never go without nail polish on my toes.  My finger nails can go forver without a manicure but I have a thing with the toes being naked.

6.  And lastly....I once flipped may car over and survived without a scrape.  Up in the U.P. of Michigan in a couple feet of snow.  Hit the brakes, hit ice then flipped.  This was just 11 days after getting engaged to Blake!  He was worried senseless because I was alone in a blizzard.  Dad and Blake came to my rescue, but the car did not survive.  Thankfully, it was a company car

So, let's see who can I get?

P.S.

Just in case you wondered...I went 4 for 4 on the football pool this weekend!  I am so excited. Blake went 2 for 4 so he is still hanging in there. But I am tied for first with one other fellow.  Yippie!

Just Mommy and Me

Well today was day 2 of mommy and Tanner time.  We have had a great couple of days hanging out together.  And it really made me realize I so appreciate that Blake took more than a month off work to have family time with us.  He started back on  Monday and I left him a card from Tanner and I and a new picture of Tanner in the Jeep as a little surprise.  I wrote him a note letting him know how much I really appreciate and respect that he stayed home with us so long.  Yes, we are blessed that he could take that time. But more importantly, that he truly wanted to.  A lot of Father's don't do that even after a birth when the mommy is recuperating.  I am so grateful to be married to a man who puts family first and foremost.  We spent every day together, laughing and loving on Tanner.  And thoroughly enjoying every single moment.  I am so lucky!

On another note, Tanner is crawling around with his neat little original crawl like gangbusters.  He discovered tile in the kitchen and the wood floor in my office this week.  Spinning and turning and amazed at every new thing.

Playoff Football!

So, I am a little excited for playoffs to start.  Every year I am in a playoff pool with some of my old L'Oreal friends.  Blake gets in on it, too.  I have NEVER won or even come close to winning.  The first couple years I had a hard time just understanding the over/under thing.  Point spread, ok, over/under not so much. Go figure, I am not so much the gambling type.

So this year Mike expanded the pool to more people and the winnings are bigger.  I have my fingers crossed that I come out big this weekend!  Go Cowboys and Patriots!  Those are my two teams until the Lions make the playoffs.  I doubt that will happen in this lifetime unless the Ford's sell the team or Millen in fired but that is another topic altogether.  I adopted the Cowboys when we moved down here (and Tony Romo helps now) and I love the Patriots (Tom Brady, cutie pie and from U of M).  My theory has always been stick with the cuter quarterback.  It works!  But we have to place bets on every game....so I went with Indy and the under on the Eagles Giants.  Not feeling great about them...so my fingers are crossed.

Wish me luck!
